Byerlee Design was founded in 2013 in the heart of McLaren Vale, South Australia. Surrounded by vineyards, cellar doors, and generations of winemaking families, the studio naturally carved its niche in the wine and beverage industry.

Now headquartered at Studio 29 in Lonsdale, Byerlee Design has grown from a McLaren Vale studio into one of Australia's most awarded beverage branding specialists. Our client list includes sixth-generation wine families, F1 drivers, rock stars, and one of Australia's largest retail groups.

But the foundation hasn't changed. Every project still begins with the same curiosity and craft that launched the studio in wine country. We still visit vineyards, taste wines, and get our hands dirty with label stocks and foil samples. The physical work matters as much as the digital design.

David Byerlee

David founded Byerlee Design with a singular belief: that great packaging design is the intersection of art, strategy, and production knowledge. His deep understanding of label production, from stock selection to foil specification, sets him apart from designers who work only on screen.

His work has earned Silver and Bronze Trophies from the World Brand Design Society, Merit and Finalist placements at AGDA and AADC, and the Best Label award at the Real Media Awards. He created the Spicers Wine & Gourmet Companion swatch kit that sits on desks in studios and print houses nationwide.

David's collaborations include projects with F1 driver Valtteri Bottas and Ronnie Vannucci Jr of The Killers, alongside long-term relationships with generational wine families like Oliver's Taranga (184 years), Scarpantoni (est. 1958), and Paxton.
