Wine label design that moves bottles off shelves.

From single varietal labels to complete range systems, every label we design is built on production expertise and an obsessive understanding of what makes someone reach for a bottle.

A wine label has approximately three seconds to make its case on a retail shelf. In that moment, it needs to communicate quality, provenance, and personality. It needs to feel right in the hand. It needs to make someone reach for the bottle instead of the one beside it.

At Byerlee Design, wine label design is our primary craft. We understand the unique intersection of artistry and technical precision that great wine packaging demands. Every label we design is created with deep knowledge of print production, stock selection, and embellishment techniques.

Our partnership with Spicers Australia means we work at the cutting edge of label stock innovation. We've designed the Wine & Gourmet Companion swatch kit that sits on the desks of designers and printers across the country. When we recommend a label stock, it's from hands-on knowledge, not a catalogue.

We work with stocks like UPM Raflatac Bagasse (made from sugarcane waste), premium uncoated textured papers, and a full range of self-adhesive and wet-glue options. Each stock is selected to complement the wine's positioning and the brand's story.

Our label design process covers every detail: regulatory compliance (including mandatory Australian wine label requirements), barcode placement, foil registration, embossing die creation, and colour matching across different substrates. We coordinate directly with printers to ensure what leaves the press matches what was designed on screen.

From accessible retail labels designed for Woolworths Group brands to ultra-premium limited releases with copper foil, high-build varnish, and French glass bottles, we design across every tier of the wine market. The common thread is an obsessive attention to the details that make great packaging.
